Slower metronome speeds please!

Need it to move much much slower till I am ready to go faster. In fact would be nice if there was an accellerator mode where after you get a few correct in a row it speeds up. This would add to the challenge and make it more game-like. A slider could determine the rate at which the accelleration increases.

Also in the timed game, there needs to be better feedback if you hit the right note. Best would be if the piano keyboard made no sound unless the correct note is played.

A beginner (me) might need a long time to figure out what the scrolling note is, so slow slow slow, maybe 10bpm!

Thanks.

Thanks for spreading the word.  We've considered a lite version, but just haven't spent the time creating one.  Maybe soon.

Disappearing notes and playing ahead

I'll try to add the disappearing note and the ability to play ahead in version 1.4. I'm putting on the finishing touches to 1.3 that I hope to release the end of next week. Thanks for the feedback and I'll try to release this feature quickly. Btw, I remember playing astroids, space invaders, pac man, digdug, and the like. 30 years ago I'd gladly spend a few bucks to play a couple games. Today getting people to spend five bucks on an app is like trying to pull a tooth.

Yeah, I can understand your

Yeah, I can understand your frustration, the problem is that there is a sea of .99 cent apps. I think if you create a .99 cent Lite version or free you can get folks to see the value of the more expensive version, since unfortunately there is no way to really test an app before buying to see if it is any good. I just bought all the lite versions of various music Ed apps which were mostly not very good till I found this one which I took a risk buying without testing. The app store is sadly lacking in features like video. Word of mouth is your best bet as this IS the best app I have found. I'll do you a favor and spread the word. Joel

size of the green zone

One more thing in this same area - the green zone is a neat idea, but if I could just play ahead of the green zone - that is, if I recognize the next note, instead of waiting for it to arrive in the green zone, I should be able to just play it or name it before it gets there, and so "get ahead" in the game, also that will create a moment of rest for my brain to digest what it has already learned before more notes have to be played, which is kind of a reward for getting faster at note recognition. If you've ever played those 1980's space invader type games, you know what I mean - you blast enough space invaders you have created a few moments to catch your breath before you have to deal with the rest of them. - Joel

Good idea

This sounds like a good. I'll look and see how hard it would and if it's not too difficult I'll add this mode to an upcoming release. An exploding note would even be cooler but I'll see what is possible. Thanks for the suggestion.

An exploding note would be

An exploding note would be cool, but not necessary - one just needs to know that they have played the correct note - if the note vanishes when played then the brain will automatically shift to the next note coming down the pike instead of worrying if it got the right one or not.

Slower speed

I'll add a slower metronome setting.  I had a beep mode where it played a beep when you played the incorrect note (like I do in Name That Note), but several people complained.  Maybe I'll add this as an option to help provide better feedback (kinda like the buzz on guitar hero or rock band when you get a wrong answer).  Do you think this would be better?

I've got it: the best

I've got it: the best feedback for playing the correct note in play that note with scrolling turned on would be for the note to vanish when it is played correctly. This should only apply to the current note in the greenzone - Joel

Hi, thanks for responding to

Hi, thanks for responding to my post, I don't think you need to have feedback for wrong notes, just don't play any sound for wrong notes on the keyboard, and some kind of positive sound effect (unpitched or semi-pitched noise like the mail send sound) might be helpful for some people but it should be something non-dramatic or annoying) the slower metronome will really help, but some kind of slow accelleration option would also be good. When I was a kid I taught myself to touch type by programming a game on my atari 400 - very simple with exploding letters if you didn't type fast enough. I think gradual accelleration is a feature very helpful for building speed. Joel
